What to Expect at Friar's Nook
At Disney's Friar's Nook, you can expect to be treated with an array of fun theme park fare such as tater tots, hot dogs, and seasonal beverages.
I absolutely love the Friar's Nook since it's a great spot to easily grab a delicious bite right in the center of Fantasyland.
Friar's Nook used to have the fan favorites, Pot Roast Mac and Cheese and the Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese, but now those items have been removed. I was so heart broken when they took these dishes away.
Disney now has a decent replacement called Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tots that I do enjoy, but I still miss the Pot Roast Mac and Cheese dish which we'll go over later in this article!
Hipster Power Tip: Have one person in your party wait in line for the food while the other person gets a table. Scoring a table under the shade can get really tough during the busy times of the day.

Let's go through a few basics to get you ready for your trip to Friar's Nook at Walt Disney World.

What is the Disney Dining Plan?
TheDisney Dining Plan is a prepaid meal planfor restaurants on the Walt Disney World Resort property. You can buy a pre-set amount of meals and snacks ahead of time for each traveling person, per night.
Disney has three tiers for the Dining Plan:
- Quick Service
- Standard Service
- Deluxe Disney Dining Plan
Each of them comes with a different level of service at different rates.
1 – Disney Quick Service Dining Plan
Includes two quick-service meals OR one complete combo meal, two snacks, and one refillable drink mug.
2 – Regular Dining Plan/Standard Service
Includes one table service meal, quick service meal, two snacks, and one refillable mug.
3 – Disney Deluxe Dining Plan
Includes three meals any combination of table service and quick service, two snacks one refillable mug.

What I Love at Friar's Nook in the Magic Kingdom
Since the Pot Roast Mac and Cheese was no longer offered, I decided to get the Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tots. The crunchy tots had blue cheese and buffalo sauce all over it with a decent amount of chicken to top it off.
Right now, it's the best option at the Friar's Nook if you like buffalo sauce flavored dishes.
What I Miss at Friar's Nook in the Magic Kingdom
When the mac and cheese options were available, I actually couldn't choose between the two dishes. So, I decided to get both just to give you a full review on one of the past Disney best kept secrets.
Bacon Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese
Topped upon the creamy, thick mac-n-cheese were superb layers of ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and two strips of bacon.
The fun part was trying to make your way towards the bottom of the bowl to the cheesy macaroni.
This was quite a challenge for me!
As you can see the top layer of this dish was very mountainous, but the gourmet undertaking was well worth it!
Pot Roast Mac and Cheese
The Pot Roast Mac-n-Cheese was my favorite between the two features!
The beef was juicy and tender to touch. As I indulged in this treat, the juices continually made their way down the bowl to the cheesy macaroni enhancing its flavor.
What capped the dish off for me were the perfectly placed scallions topping the beefy cuisine!
Scallions pretty much add an intense, enjoyable flavor to most savory options. So, I was definitely on board for this food adventure.
Macaroni and Cheese at Disney
The Mac and Cheese at Walt Disney World can be eaten alone. Its flavors combine a velvety, cheddar taste with bold spices to make it so much more than your regular theme park food; more like nostalgia in a cup.
When this dish was available at Friar's Nook, it could be topped with your choice of toasted Panko Bread Crumbs, Pot Roast, or a Bacon Cheeseburger.
Something theme park foodie enthusiasts tend to cheer for as if standing outside Cinderella Castle for the big firework extravaganza.
Well maybe I was going too far on that analogy, but who cares! I only wish that you could've enjoyed this wonderful treat just as much as I did.
After all, was Disney food with great flare!
During the time the only complaint I had was about the cost. The price was $8.99 and it was only in small bowl which had me wanting more.
Final Thoughts
Some people say the food is better now that the tater tots are available, but I have to disagree.
Although I enjoyed the Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tots, it's still is nowhere near the deliciousness I experienced with the Pot Roast Mac and Cheese.
Overall, I do recommend this place if you want a quick bite inside the Magic Kingdom!
